Playwright Rinde Eckert's critically acclaimed HORIZON, co-produced off Broadway by the New York Theatre Workshop in June 2007, was honored with two Drama Desk Award nominations yesterday: one of six in the Outstanding Play category and David Schweizer for Outstanding Director of a Play.

The 53rd Annual Drama Desk Awards honor achievement in the theater with competition between Broadway, off Broadway and off-off Broadway New York productions in the same categories.  Winners will be announced at the 53rd Annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony on Sunday, May 18, 2008, in the LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center.  The ceremony will be webcast by TheaterMania.com and broadcast live on satellite radio's XM 28 On Broadway.

THE LEAGUE OF OFF-BROADWAY THEATRES AND PRODUCERS has announced the winners of the 23rd annual Lucille Lortel  Awards for outstanding achievement off-Broadway. A special Unique Theatrical Experience award has been given to Rinde Eckert's play HORIZON, Produced by New York Theatre Workshop.

The 2007-2008 Lucille Lortel Awards nominating/voting committee is appointed by the League of Off-Broadway Theatres & Producers, the
Lucille Lortel Foundation, Actors' Equity Association, Society of Stage Directors & Choreographers, and also includes journalists,
educators, and other Off-Broadway theatre professionals. Awarded since 1986, the Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the League by special
arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Foundation.  Additional support is provided by Theatre Development Fund. Support also provided by Ketel One Vodka and Pepper Bridge Winery.
